Wood is highly patterned walnut with sunbursts
Tone quality is muted yet still enjoys warmth and color
A few nicks here and there from moving, but overall a beautiful instrument.
Purchased in the early ‘90s from a piano company in New Orleans, LA. Currently located in Laramie, WY, USA.

History: Joseph Gabriel Gaveau, born 1824 in Romorantin. Established his workshop in Paris on rue des vinaigriers in 1847. From 1896 onward, they developed a new brand by opening a modern factory and concert hall, “Salle Gaveau” to promote the quality of their pianos.
In 1911, his son Gabriel Eugene started creating unique quarter grand pianos with elaborate exteriors and precious woods. The small “model I” quarter grand, well-known in Paris, provided stiff competition for Pleyel and Erard pianos for the Parisian home market. Inlaid sun designs and beautiful added to the maker’s reputation.
