3rd pedal (sostenuto)
completely restored, new action (Renner), pinboard
shellac, mahogany pommelé, gilded inlays, fittings and agraffes
Grotrian Steinweg Nachf. with a length of 220cm, of course with 88 keys.
In this length only few copies were made, the instrument is not only by its length, but above all by its exclusive execution a real speciality.
**Unique instrument, apr. 1915,
length 220cm (223 cm with lid overhangs),
Pommelé mahogany with inlays,
Grotrian-Steinweg, special series X, serial number XA293.**
The instrument was fully restored about ten years ago. In the process, the wonderful veneer with its unique inlays was revealed under a black varnish. Like many such instruments, this gem has had a troubled past; in 2008, it was retrieved from the second floor of a Bavarian inn by its previous owner, who then had it refurbished. In view of the instrument's magnificent appointments, there is no limit to the imagination as to who has had their fingers on the keys in the past. A research at Grotrian about the provenance is in progress.
Tonally and in terms of playing style, the instrument does not need to hide behind its brothers from the American branch of the family, i.e. a Steinway B.

All in all an instrument in mint condition, suitable for concerts and furthermore a real unique specimen due to its design and the quality of the refurbishment. Since the restoration, the instrument has been regularly tuned and also played, but on a small scale, so there has been no wear.
The price includes ground transportation within Germany and a tuning by a piano tuner commissioned by us. The price stated as negotiable price and the effective agreed selling price includes 19% VAT. This will be shown separately on the invoice.
