Kawai US-6X professional upright with Tone Spreader

Kawai US-6X professional upright, built in Japan in 1990. This large-format upright stands 132 cm high and is finished in black. The instrument is used but very well-preserved in original condition and has not undergone extensive rebuilding. Serial number: 1971637.

Designed as part of Kawai’s premium US Series, the US-6X brings many grand-inspired features to a vertical piano. Its tall cabinet allows longer bass strings and a generous soundboard area. Construction details include six back posts, underfelted hammers and an aliquot-type string arrangement, all contributing to increased depth, sustain and tonal richness. The factory Tone Spreader system helps project sound more directly toward the player.

A notable visual and functional trait is the grand-style music desk and the vertical fallboard that allows the pianist to see hand reflections during performance—features intended to enhance playability and stage presence.

Sonically the instrument delivers a full, powerful bass, a substantial middle register and a clear, projecting treble, offering greater tonal authority than a typical upright of similar size.
