Gerh. Steinberg, a German Brand from London

Gerh. Steinberg, a German upright piano brand originating from Berlin, known as G. Steinberg, is a renowned piano brand whose roots trace back to Berlin where it was founded in 1908. This German brand quickly gained recognition for the excellent quality of its upright pianos, contributing to its dynamic growth in its early years. Between 1993-1998, the brand was managed by Whelpdale, Maxwell & Codd Ltd., a London-based company known for producing prestigious pianos like Broadwood, Welmar, and Knight. These changes introduced innovative approaches and techniques in the piano production process.

In 2003, the rights to the brand were acquired by Music Brothers International BV, transferring the production to the Perzina factory in Yantai, China. Since then, Gerh. Steinberg upright pianos have been manufactured as an independent line but still maintain European quality standards by using high-grade components sourced from Europe.

Outstanding Quality and Sturdy Construction

Gerh. Steinberg upright pianos stand out for their sturdy construction, especially due to reinforcements at the back of the instrument. They are built using European Sitka spruce soundboards, German pinblocks, hammer felt, and Roslau strings – similar to those used in Perzina pianos.

Selected Models of Gerh. Steinberg Upright Pianos

Model 110 is the smallest upright piano offered by Gerh. Steinberg, measuring just 110 cm in height. It’s an ideal choice for those with limited space but unwilling to compromise on sound quality and elegance. This compact model offers warm and balanced sound, perfect for home use and piano learning. The 123 cm high model is a versatile instrument that combines the convenience of a compact size with rich and expressive sound. It’s an excellent choice for intermediate to advanced pianists who need a bit more power and tonal depth than smaller models offer. Model 133 is the largest and most impressive upright piano offered by Gerh. Steinberg, standing at a height of 133 cm. This model boasts an exceptionally rich and deep sound, akin to what smaller grand pianos offer. Its performance and sound quality are ideal for advanced pianists and for use in professional settings like concert halls or recording studios.

Each of these Gerh. Steinberg upright piano models combines traditional German craftsmanship with modern technologies, offering instruments that are visually beautiful and sonically splendid, catering to the needs of diverse pianists.
