Alan Crane Piano Service
About usAlan Crane, RPT is a Registered Piano Technician member of the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) since 1987.
He is currently in private practice following 21 years full-time as the piano technician for the School of Music at Wichita State University.
Alan's fees reflect his desire to spend the amount of time with your piano that it needs without 'cutting corners' or 'settling for less' in order to rush off to the next appointment.
His experience and expertise span the full range of piano service from tuning, adjustment, and voicing for concert stage and recording studio to in-home tuning and repair of privately owned instruments.
He is a certified installer of the Stanwood 'Precision Touch Design' system of touch weight calibration and customization.
Alan is actively involved in the Piano Technicians Guild at both the local and international levels, serving the former in Chapter offices and the latter as an instructor and member of the Examinations & Test Standards committee.
HistoryStarting out as a freelance piano technician in the mid-80s in Wichita, Kansas, Alan apprenticed with Marty Hess, RPT and Ron Nossaman, RPT.
Beginning in 1990, he entered full-time institutional work, first for 3 years with the Wichita Public School System, followed by 21 years as the piano technician for the School of Music at Wichita State University.
Currently, Alan serves a growing clientele of private piano owners and several smaller colleges and universities in central and western Kansas.
