This extraordinary instrument tells a story of piano making: the Schiedmayer grand (model 210) was built in 1876 in Stuttgart and, on the occasion of its 150th birthday, underwent a careful, comprehensive restoration./n/nDuring the overhaul the grand received, among other things, a new set of strings and new tuning pins, new hammer shanks and hammer heads, as well as renewed dampers and keyboard fittings. All felts and other wear parts were newly made according to the original patterns./n/nThe instrument's construction features technical elements that set standards at the time and that still shape the sound today: the Schiedmayer 210 is equipped with a full cast-iron plate and an overtone/resonance-string system (in places strings between the bridge and the frame) that acts as a resonator and gives the sound additional brilliance./n/nThe result is a sonically very characterful, harmonically rich grand with an impressive response.
