The Kawai US-55 upright piano, manufactured in 1988, is one of the largest and most advanced upright models offered by Kawai from that period.
Its construction was designed with maximum tonal potential in mind — an instrument that, in terms of power and projection, approaches small grand pianos.

The US-55’s sound is full, deep and very projecting. The bass has mass and stability, the midrange is clear and wide, and the treble is bright but controlled.
Thanks to a large soundboard and long strings, the instrument offers a generous dynamic range and long sustain, making it particularly satisfying for everyday playing.

The Kawai action from the late 1980s works reliably, evenly and with great precision, providing good control of articulation even with demanding repertoire.
