Description de l’annonce
A historic Bösendorfer grand, among the earliest instruments produced by the renowned Austrian manufactory.
Crafted in Vienna in 1860 during a long, cold winter, this piano retains a majestic presence and a story-like appearance that evokes the salons of a bygone era.
The case is in superb condition and the instrument boasts newly installed bass strings. The piano measures approximately 6'6". The soundboard shows no cracks; bridges, keys and hammers are reported to be in good condition.
Ludwig Bösendorfer originally sketched the Grand Piano 170 for the refined salon culture of Imperial Vienna. That same Viennese approach to tone and craftsmanship is audible in this grand: a distinctive Bösendorfer sound, rich in colour, dynamic range and expressive nuance.
Made in Austria, this instrument represents more than utility — it carries generational value. Skilled artisans have long refined Bösendorfer production to reveal the piano’s characteristic inner voice; historically the creation or full rebuild of a Bösendorfer grand can take up to a year, reflecting meticulous handwork and attention to detail.
A440 Pianos, the largest rebuilder in the South-East region, lists this instrument among its collection of restored and carefully prepared grands, which also includes Steinway, Baldwin and Yamaha models.
Please note shipping information: once the piano arrives at your home it will likely require tuning at your expense, as instruments commonly go out of tune during transport. Quoted rates cover curbside delivery within the 48 contiguous states. In-home delivery can be arranged for an additional $375+ depending on stairs and manoeuvres required.
