Beautiful rare fortepiano J. A.. Tischner, St. Petersburg

Johann August Tischner (1772-1854), like many piano maker, likely originated in Germany and is documented in St. Petersburg from 1818 onward. Tischner's fortepianos, are distinguished by their exceptional richness of sound and precise mechanics. His instruments were highly sought after by the Russian aristocracy, as well as by musicians and composers (Glinka, Field, Szymanovska). His ability to create instruments with a clear, brilliant tone and pronounced dynamic range is especially noteworthy. His pianos possessed a particularly responsive touch, enabling pianists to play the finest nuances and subtle variations of expression. In St. Petersburg, a cultural center at the time, Tischner's instruments were very well received. His workshop was reportedly highly regarded because he understood how to combine Western piano-making techniques with the specific needs and desires of his Russian clients.

The fortepiano is complete and structurally in good condition (furniture, soundboard, pedals). Needs renovation on strings and mechanics as seen from pictures. 75 keys, 4 legs, 3 pedals.
