Descrizione
C. Bechstein Model A boudoir grand piano
Serial number: 96917
Overview
A carefully restored C. Bechstein Model A (A 185), approx. 184 cm long (about 6 ft), finished in black French polish. This smaller grand offers the characteristic warm and refined Bechstein tone while fitting well into a domestic music room or larger living area.
Provenance
The instrument was originally purchased from Forsyths of Manchester in 1982. It was owned for many years by a music professor at Lancaster University and remained in his care until retirement. After his passing, his widow commissioned a comprehensive restoration so the piano could continue to be played and enjoyed.
Restoration and condition
The piano has undergone a substantial professional restoration to preserve both its structure and musical qualities. Work carried out includes:
Cast-iron frame resprayed
Complete restringing with new tuning pins
Action regulation and repair where required
Replacement of felts and leathers as needed
Hammer resurfacing
Keyboard repairs and selective replacements
Casework repair and restoration where possible
Following these works the instrument was inspected by Paul Mill (P Mill Piano, Lancaster/Skipton https://pmillpiano.co.uk/), who confirmed that it is in sound structural and musical condition and performs well. The piano is offered ready to play rather than as a restoration project.
Appearance
As expected for an instrument of this age there are some minor cosmetic blemishes to the case, shown clearly in the photographs; these do not materially affect the instrument’s appearance or performance.
Suitability and services
This restored Bechstein Model A is especially suitable for a serious pianist seeking a characterful smaller grand for either period or contemporary interiors. Transport within the UK is included. Price is open to negotiation.
