The Steinway model A is currently manufactured in both Hamburg, Germany, and New York. This piano was made in the New York factory well over 100 years ago and was rebuilt in 2008. Our technicians spent countless hours working to achieve a consistency in performance and sound.
The model A was not manufactured in New York for most of the 20th century. It is one of the most desirable sizes since it is suitable for your home, yet offers the richness of sound that can only be achieved by a grand piano.
The original, organic keytops are a testament to the gentle life this piano has had. Most often, keys get chipped or are missing, and the only option is to replace them with plastic keytops. For those who prefer plastic keytops, it is a simple procedure to change to plastic, but nearly impossible to revert to the original keytops in most situations.
The art-case of the piano is something quite rare to find anymore. The finish is the hand-rubbed lacquer which is the trade-mark of classic, American pianos.
The tone of this piano is rich and warm without being overwhelming in volume. The action weight is medium. It is very responsive without being hard to play.
For anyone who appreciates great, vintage, American Steinway pianos, this instrument will be treasured for years to come.
