Beschrijving
Colour: Palisander
Finish: Shellac hand‑polished
Condition: Used
Year of construction: approx. 1817
Dimensions (Width x Depth x Height): 237 cm long
Further information: The grand was disassembled and unstrung; subsequently the stringing/scale was recalculated. The original tuning pins were cleaned and later reused. The pinblock was removed and remade; all veneers and wooden moldings were reused.
The soundboard was repaired and repolished. Afterwards the entire bass string attachment was replaced so that the new strings, which were made from historical string material, could be fitted.
Missing and damaged parts of the action were newly made and replaced; this concerned some hammer heads, shanks, dampers and damper felts.
The hammer heads were refitted on their axles and the covering leather was renewed. The damping was repositioned and regulated, as was the action. The hammer heads were voiced.
The keyboard, made of a wonderful natural material, was restored and polished, and set up and regulated.
As the lyre and the music desk were missing, these were newly made by us to the model, in solid mahogany. The complete case was hand‑polished again with shellac, retaining the old layers of finish and signs of use.
The grand now has the typical tonal character and playability of its period.
The sale is carried out on behalf of our client.
