The 290 Imperial model represents the most complete expression of the Bösendorfer legacy.
In the history of the house it is the nineteenth model designed to offer an extended tonal range: the 97-key keyboard guarantees eight full octaves, allowing faithful performance of complex works by Bartók, Debussy, Ravel and Busoni.
The extraordinary sonic presence derives from a massive soundboard and a high use of resonance spruce from the Val di Fiemme; these elements contribute to a very full timbre and to a projection reminiscent of an orchestral sound mass.
Bösendorfer’s sonic design, based on the principle of considering the entire instrument as a single vibrating body, amplifies the resonance and gives the instrument an unmatched dynamic power.
