Beschrijving
Upright piano Burger & Jacobi 132, serial number 3897, built around 1888. The instrument has undergone a complete restoration; the full documentation of the work is available to interested parties.
The instrument is in remarkable condition, both sonically and aesthetically. The soundboard has been restored, the mechanism geometry and felts are in good condition, and the piano is ready to play with a pleasant, warm tone. The cabinet has retained its original appearance, with quality walnut veneer, decorative inlays and brass fittings.
Special features:
- Interior plaque bearing a dedication attributed to Johannes Brahms, dated 15 August 1888 in Thun (historically interesting element; such plaques were sometimes applied for advertising purposes and do not necessarily imply personal ownership by the artist).
- Two candle holders indicating construction prior to electrification.
- Decorative interior inscription and cabinet work typical of the period known as the Gründerzeit.
- Rare historic under-damping system, a transitional construction between upper and lower damping systems, which makes this model singular.
Restoration history: the piano was fully renovated in the past (recorded restoration costs: CHF 6'000). The work was carried out carefully, giving the instrument notable aesthetic and heritage value, making it a rare Swiss collector's piece.
Technical data: acoustic upright piano, length 63 cm, height 129 cm, width 146 cm, 85 keys, 2 pedals, colour: brown, serial number 3897. Condition: used, excellent state of preservation and ready to play.
Terms of sale: price negotiable. Complete restoration documentation provided to prospective buyers. To arrange a viewing or obtain further information, please contact the seller (contact details available via the listing).
