My goal with this grand was to clearly extend its lifespan through a thorough overhaul using modern parts, matched to the original instrument’s playing style and tone (circa 1900).

Acoustics
The resonance case has been carefully dried, repaired and re-lacquered. Both bridges and bridge pins have been completely replaced. The stringing has been recalculated and renewed, and the tuning pins have also been replaced.

Damping
The damper felt has been replaced and the entire damper body rebuilt with a new Renner damper mechanism. This makes it possible to adjust the dampers per string more precisely.

Action and hammer heads
The originally coupled action has been converted to a more modern system with new Renner underhammers and shanks. The hammer heads are light Abel hammers with natural felt, milligram-calibrated for even response and tone.

Keys and weights
New CKM brass key weights were used to calibrate the key weight, so there is no longer any lead in the keyboard. The ivory key covering has been replaced by Tharan keys, and the keys have been fitted with new wood on the sides, giving a touch comparable to that of a new instrument.

Regulation and touch
The grand is balanced at approximately 37 grams balance weight (with a downweight of about 50 and an upweight of 24) and has a low frontweight curve. The result is a light, smooth and well-controllable touch.

Finish
The instrument is finished in new high-gloss black polyester.

Climate control
The grand is equipped with the PianoGuard system, which keeps the humidity around the instrument at approximately 45% to 65%.

Location and viewing
The grand is located in my workshop in Dordrecht. By appointment the instrument can be listened to and played extensively.

Services
Transport within the Netherlands is included. The price is negotiable. Voicing/tuning is not included.

In all work the original characteristics and technical facts have been preserved; no additional parts or services have been added beyond what is described above.
