Används, Gaveau, I (1/4)

Gaveau art deco Quarter-top 1.52 m (from 1933), this piano is representative of the art of living in France in the 1930s. It appears in the lounge of one of the 4 suites of the liner Le Normandie as one of the elements of luxury and refinement in the French style.
Gaveau created a piano inspired by the great designers of the time such as André Domin, Marcel Genévrière and the group known as "the five"; Dominique Circa, Chareau, Legrain, Puiforcat and Raymond Templier. With a design that combines the simplicity and modernism of art deco, it meets a great success. It is found in the homes of bourgeois families of the interwar period. Its construction, which combines black rosewood and oak mesh, illustrates the quality of the Gaveau company as a piano cabinetmaker.
Its restoration is finished. The windchest has been changed, the strings and pegs are new, the action has been entirely refurbished, the keyboard is in ivory (bleached and repolished). The cabinet has just been varnished. The sound is modern and the touch is fast, firm without being hard.
This piano will enhance a contemporary decoration.
