This Yamaha U1 model was manufactured in the period 1959–1965. Older U1 examples are known for their relatively soft, warm tone compared to later versions.

Originally the Yamaha U1D had two pedals; in our restorations we add a third (moderator) pedal as standard. This extra pedal is recognizable by the rounded shapes in the design of the top lid.

Condition of overhaul:
Our refurbished Yamaha uprights and grands are fully restored: both the mechanical components and the cabinetry. The case receives a polyester high-gloss lacquer, the key coverings are replaced and the soundboard is revarnished. The interior and action are returned to like-new condition. We offer a 10-year warranty on these instruments.

Maintenance and parts:
Strings and hammer heads have been repaired or replaced where necessary. All felt parts and bearings in the action are renewed as standard. Brass parts are polished so they look like new again. The piano is fitted with a practice pedal and a slow-fall mechanism on the fallboard.

Silent system:
We offer multiple silent systems. Sometimes we encounter original, factory-installed Yamaha silent systems; generally, however, we install universal silent systems. The advantage is that you are free in your choice of instrument and we can fit the silent system according to your wishes.
