It should be considered that pianos sold for the European market (demonstrated by the Hamamatsu writing near the serial number) and not reconditioned in Asia have on average a better tone if well maintained.

The U1 M model has a soft tone similar to European pianos thanks to the thicker felt under the hammers and an increased bar size for greater tuning stability compared to the U1 H and U1 G.

The U1 is the most used upright piano in conservatories and music schools.
