The 5’10 1/2″ Steinway O was built in the Steinway & Sons factory in Hamburg, Germany.  This 1938 Grand Piano was manufactured when the Hamburg factory was in full operation prior to Steinway & Sons using Renner.  To maintain the original integrity of this piano the case, plate, soundboard, bridges keybed, keys, action rail and many of the action components that were not compromised by age are intact in this piano.  This assures the geometry of the action is unchanged and that this piano incorporates far more original pieces than today’s American rebuild.  As a side note, the Steinway Heirloom Collection of pianos do not have any original action parts, including the keybed, because it is easier to install a brand new accelerated action as opposed to replacing action parts.

This European piano restoration was done by a handful of skilled piano artisans providing the the most authentic style of rebuilding of Steinway Pianos.  Unlike the typical American restoration, this piano still uses it’s original soundboard, bridges, case and over 50% of the original action parts.
