Description
For sale: an exceptional Bösendorfer Salon Grand, Model 170 (Serial #8552), rebuilt to marry historical character with modern playability.
This compact grand measures 170 cm long, 102 cm high and 147 cm wide — a scale well suited to salons, studios and intimate performance spaces. It features a full 88-key keyboard, offering the complete modern range uncommon in many salon grands of its period.
The instrument retains its original high-gloss ebony casework and the original ivory and ebony keytops, all in excellent condition, which preserve the authentic touch and appearance. When opened, the lid and rim reveal a book-matched maple interior that provides an elegant contrast to the dark exterior.
The piano has undergone a comprehensive restoration by Ackerman’s Piano Sales & Restoration. The work included a full structural and mechanical rebuild, installation of a premium Canadian spruce soundboard, complete restringing and replacement of damper felts. The action was upgraded with Renner components and new hammers to deliver precise, responsive touch and dependable repetition for contemporary repertoire.
Tonally the instrument benefits from the chosen soundboard material associated with the Val di Fiemme spruce tradition, producing a warm, singing character. The cabinet retains salon-style details such as carved legs, an ornate fretwork music desk and a lyre-shaped pedal assembly.
Condition: Used — fully rebuilt and regulated. The sale includes complete documented restoration records and the price is negotiable.
Additional services and logistics: see listing details for delivery and handling options.
Photos and full specifications available on request.
