Description
Érard grand piano, Model No. 1, made in Paris in 1913./n/nHalf-grand of approximately 2.10 m (212 cm) length, 1.45 m width and 101 cm height. Original finish in figured walnut./n/nInstrument representative of the great French piano making of the early 20th century, offering a clear and singing timbre — particularly suited to the romantic and French repertoire (Debussy, Ravel, Fauré, Chopin)./n/nTechnical characteristics :/n85 keys (original configuration)/nÉrard double-escapement action/nParallel strings/nOriginal soundboard inscribed: "Le Brevet d’Invention – S.G.D.G. – 1826 & 1839 – Seul"/n/nCondition and history :/nThe action was overhauled in the early 1980s (internal marking: M. Grevisse – A. Lemoine). The figured walnut case is original, shows a natural patina and some superficial signs of use consistent with its age. The instrument has been little played over the past twenty years./n/nThe piano is playable and structurally sound. A tuning followed by a fine setup (escapement regulation on one note) will allow its full potential to be exploited. No major restoration is to be expected./n/nSound :/nClear and transparent tone, typically "Érard", with good definition in the midrange and treble./n/nDiscussion possible with a serious buyer./n/nPrivate sale.
