For sale is an antique table piano by Johann Fritz in Wien, dating from around 1815, a highly interesting historical instrument for collectors, restorers, and enthusiasts of early keyboard instruments.
The piano features a solid case in good overall condition, with attractive veneer and a very elegant appearance. The keyboard is complete, with all keys present, although some show normal signs of age and wear. The original Johann Fritz in Wien maker’s label is present and visible.
The instrument is not in working condition, and the interior shows the expected issues of an untreated antique piano: most of the strings are missing, and the instrument requires significant restoration work. For this reason, it is best suited as a piece for restoration, study, or collection.
