Description
The Millennium III action of the Kawai GL-50 uses ABS-Carbon components, a composite that integrates carbon fiber into our renowned ABS Styran.
This material provides high rigidity and strength, allowing parts of the action to be made lighter without losing hardness. The result is a faster, more solid action that delivers greater power, control and stability compared with traditional wooden actions.
Longer keys facilitate playing and ensure an even response across the entire playing surface. A higher profile and reinforced concert-length key buttons improve energy transfer and optimize dynamic delivery.
Soundboard
The soundboard converts string vibrations into a full, rich tone. For the GL series, Kawai uses only solid straight-grain spruce, quarter-sawn, and selects pieces that meet or exceed its exacting resonance criteria. Each soundboard is strategically squared to provide the appropriate degree of vibration in each area.
Notable components and finishes:
One-piece straight-grain soundboard
Outer rim in Matoa wood
CORE system
Laminated maple and beech bridges (13 layers)
MILLENNIUM III action with ABS-Carbon mechanism
Aluminum alloy bar
Cast iron harp/frame with V-PRO system
Solid spruce keyboard with NEOTEX surface
Mahogany hammers with double felt
Laminated pinblock (min. 11 layers)
Professional ROSSLAU strings
Third sostenuto pedal, slow-fall fallboard and locks on the top lid and key lid
This piano offers a combination of precise touch and sound projection designed for educational spaces and small-sized rooms that require a reliable instrument with strong sonic presence.
