Description
This beautifully restored little grand is a highlight of Art Deco design and forms a striking centerpiece both in homes from the 1920s/30s and in clean, modern interiors.
Because of its distinctive symmetrical shape — a so-called klokvleugel (clock-shaped grand) — the instrument has a larger angle at the bass strings, which effectively lengthens the strings and makes the tone fuller and richer than one would expect from a 135 cm instrument.
Although the length is modest (135 cm), the musical quality is at a level that compares favorably with many standard grands of larger dimensions.
The grand has been thoroughly restored by us. Work carried out and parts:
- Mechanism fully restored and in very good condition
- Soundboard cleaned and re-varnished
- Classic black polish finish
- Keyboard (ivory) restored; keybed cloth renewed
- Conical front check sleeves applied for improved touch
- Damping felt replaced
- Bass strings and steel strings renewed according to original measurements
- Tuning pins renewed in an authentic blue finish
- Tuned, regulated and voiced
