Description
A rare example of this outstanding model in excellent condition.
Steingraeber is the oldest maker of top class handmade pianos. The 205 is a descendent of the famous piano played by Liszt and on display at the Steingraeber factory in Bayreuth. This is one of the best-loved models of the brand, known for its balance, resonance and ideal action. This is one of the last examples made before the 205 was replaced by the C-212 in the Steingraeber range (a new C-212 costs over £100,000). Many pianists prefer the 205 to the C-212.
This gorgeous Steingraeber 205 was finished in February 2007 and sent to Markson Pianos in London who sold it to its first owner. It was lightly played and I bought it in beautiful condition in 2019. Since then it has been lightly played and maintained by a well-known Steingraeber-trained technician. In 2019 I added a Dampp-chaser humidifier system and a silent system. This piano is in virtually flawless condition, with minor scratches to the case in keeping with a well-kept piano of its age. Internally it is absolutely impeccable and the action is perfect.
I absolutely love this piano and am only selling it because I am moving to a house with a Steingraeber D-232.
