Description
This Steinway & Sons D‑274 concert grand (year 1978) comes from the inventory of a renowned symphony orchestra and was used there for many years in concert performance.
The grand is largely in original condition. In our master workshop the hammer heads and rollers were renewed, all assemblies inspected, and the action overhauled. This was followed by regulation, voicing and tuning to 443 Hz.
The black polish shows age- and use-related wear. We have deliberately retained the existing surface and offer the grand in this condition at an attractive price. At the buyer’s request, the case can be re‑polished in our workshop for an additional charge.
Sonically, the D‑274 convinces with a powerful, well-differentiated tone, full sonority and a pronounced bass foundation — typical characteristics of a large Steinway concert grand. It is suitable for stage, studio and pianists seeking a mature instrument with preserved original substance and an authentic history.

For more than 30 years I have worked as a master piano builder on the restoration and tonal refinement of Steinway & Sons grands. Each instrument is personally selected and inspected by me. It is important to me to preserve the individual substance and character of a grand and to perform only the necessary work so that the future owner can enjoy the instrument for a long time.
