Grotrian Steinweg is one of the oldest and most prestigious piano manufacturers in the world, founded in 1831 and still led today by the Grotrian-Steinweg family in their sixth generation of builders.
All Grotrian-Steinweg pianos are hand-built by the finest German craftsmen and have the following features:
1. THE WOOD
The body is constructed using selected, sturdy red beech and the soundboard is made of mountain spruce that is at least 200 years old, so that the rings are extremely thin and homogeneous.
2. THE STAR-SHAPED BACK-FRAME
The star-shaped back, patented by GROTRIAN as early as 1905, has been used since the beginning of the 20th century because it is considered the best construction for absorbing tension.
3. GLUING
A special press works at 90 C and with two-component, water-resistant glues glues the various parts of the piano to ensure resistance to humidity in any region of the world.
4.FRAME
The combination of an iron frame and a wooden backrest withstands a string tension of over 20 tons and gives all GROTRIAN instruments extraordinary stability.
