Description
This Bösendorfer is a concert model from the second half of the 1840s. The serial number (2966) allows it to be dated to around 1848 and it is the same model used by Franz Liszt in his Vienna concerts. It is a model with a Viennese action that is still entirely original. The hammers retain their original covering in felt (inner layer) and leather (outer layer). The soundboard is still in excellent condition. The inner part of the fallboard is richly decorated with gilded and mother-of-pearl inlays.
The piano requires restoration, but the action is still largely functional and the case is in excellent condition.
Besides being a very rare example of a historical piano, the excellent state of preservation, together with the absence of restorations that have altered its historical characteristics, makes it an excellent base as an instrument that, after appropriate restoration, can be used for concerts or recordings on historical instruments.
