We have been in the piano business since 1953 when Ronald Ware the founder of our piano business completed his apprenticeship at Hickies & Hickies music shop Boscombe, Dorset where his master could also trace his learning lineage back to the 19th century. We have been expertly restoring, repairing and tuning pianos for Radio 4, music colleges, and were former County Council contract school piano tuners and repairers for Dorset, Hampshire, West Sussex, Harrow and Bucks. Our experience and expertise is second to none. We sell only Pianos; your piano purchase is special to us and would love to continue the after care for years to come!

We have completed the following.
Removed Iron frame and refinished.
Stripped and restored the soundboard, so this piano has the orignal Bechstein soundboard with its rich and full tone complete with crown.
Casework and veneers completely stripped and restored in high gloss black and polished brass works.
Pedal mechanism completely restored.
Completely restrung with bass strings supplied and made by Heller whipped and coned, and steel strings with German made by Roslau.
Key bushings replaced and all original key coverings polished as new.
New action felts and leathers thoughout.
New hammer shanks, flanges and rollers.
Fitted with weight and sized correct hammer heads made in Germany by Abel, under felted with Mahogany core.
New damper felts with extended split felt enhancing dampening in middle section.
Finely weighted touch down and up weight.
This piano restoration was completed by Dorset Pianos Ltd in 2023. We need some space to make way for new stock so this is now a clearance item.
Fully restored Bechstein Model B grand piano standing at 6.8ft in length, a premier example of 1930s build pianos. With its four string sections and all string Agraffe and unique Bechstein seasoned Solid Spruce soundboard and patent plate producing the iconic Bechstein tone. We pride ourselves on fully restoring these classic pianos befitting the original makers intent of sound and touch keeping as much as the true piano as possible with no new soundboards or planks and keyboards. This restoration was this piano’s first in its life time and it gave us great joy to receive the piano in its original condition and for us to dismantle it and then have the joy of playing it for the first time after its restoration.
