Erard 1/2 Parallélle grand piano — restored, pure tonal character

For sale: a beautifully restored Erard 1/2 Parallélle grand piano (212 cm) with a pure, authentic tone.

This instrument was built in Paris in 1921 and comes from a private collection in the Paris area. A few years ago the grand was imported to the Netherlands and professionally restored there on behalf of the previous owners.

The construction is robust and characteristic of Erard: the beam-supported structure gives the case and the acoustics great stability. The soundboard, the heart of the instrument, is still original and in excellent condition.

The restoration was carried out using high-quality materials and craftsmanship. Work performed and renewals:
- new high-quality bass strings and Stéphen Paulello steel strings;
- strong wrestplank with new tuning pins that keep tuning stable;
- renewed upper bridges with new bridge pins;
- original upper hammers professionally re-felted by Desfougéres in France;
- new Erard casters;
- well-maintained and attractive keyboard with ivory keytops.

The case is subtly veneered in rosewood; the interior is finished with beautiful bird’s‑eye maple. Due to its tonal character and solid workmanship, this example is also suitable for professional use.
