His son Shigeru continued the tradition and today that dream has become reality. With the Shigeru Kawai series, a new generation of grand pianos has come to market, crafted with dedication and the highest-quality materials in careful handwork. The passion and craftsmanship of the high-calibre piano makers can be recognized in six top-class models with a wonderful sound and concert-like fullness. Perfectly selected fine woods for the soundboard, hammer heads and bridges are combined with advanced development and testing techniques. The noble spruce of the soundboard gives the Shigeru Kawai grands their unique, full tone. The felt for the hammer heads is carefully hand-pressed to preserve the extraordinary dynamic range and expressive power. For the unique case, differently grained hardwoods are glued together to achieve the ideal tonal balance for the rounded sound of the Shigeru Kawai grands. Extended keys ensure an even touch and optimal transmission of power. The unique Millennium III action is exceptionally light and stable, allowing even faster repetition as well as a sensitive touch and precise control. Every Shigeru Kawai grand is a unique masterpiece from a small limited production, intended to fulfil not only Koichi Kawai's dream but also that of the pianist."
