We just purchased 12 pianos from the prestigious blair school of music at vanderbilt university, in nashville tn. This is one of them. The case has a few scratches, but presents itself fairly well. The ribboned mahogany is gorgeous! The piano has been restrung within the last 10 years. Plus, the action has been completely replaced with a carbon composite wessel, nickel, & gross action. (2012) (these are standard issue for new boston made mason & hamlins.). It's perfectly regulated, and it won't go out of adjustment, and won't be susceptible to temperature and humidity changes. So, no more sluggish action or verdigris to worry about. The touch is medium-light, lightning fast, and even throughout. The damper system was rebuilt as well. The sound is typical steinway. Rich, bold, and powerful.
The case has scratches, but it is not an eyesore. It polishes up well. If you're looking for a concert-grade instrument for the most accomplished pianist, but aren't looking for a perfect appearance, then you've found it. It's voiced, tuned, and properly regulated. Case is a 7.5-7.75 on a 10 scale. Action, strings, pins, pinblock, hammers, soundboard are a 9.5 on a 10 scale.
